I'm currently 7 hours into a 23 hour train ride to Whitefish, Montana. My cousin is getting married in Glacier National Park and I thought I'd take the scenic route.
Observations
5:30am: The renovated Union Depot in St. Paul is beautiful. People who travel by trains don't seem to grasp that you cannot board a train 20 min before departure because the train isn't there yet. Boarding was smooth and my seat is on the upper deck. Took an hour to get through the Cities. Fell asleep before St. Cloud.
North Dakota is boring as hell. Woke up when we were stopped in Fargo at 3:50am. Cute downtown. Fell back asleep. Woke up at Grand Forks. Not cute. Very foggy this morning but the sunrise is pretty cool.
2:00pm: Eastern Montana is very flat too. Also, did not see Josh Duhamel in Minot...so feel a bit cheated on that.
3:15pm: Stopped in Havre for refueling and debunking. I'm starting to see non-flat surfaces in the distance :)
